Construction is finishing up on the Airway-Airport Loop Sewer Rehabilitation project. See below for current activities. 

LOCATION:  Airway Avenue and Airport Loop Drive, Costa Mesa

  • What: Crews are filling in excavations and installing access covers. The street will be returned to conditions prior to construction. 
  • When: Ongoing – early 2026*
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., some activities may require work outside normal working hours.
  • What to Expect: 
    • At least one travel lane in each direction.

LOCATION:  Main Street Pump Station, 1499 Main St., Irvine

  • What:  Rehabilitating and constructing pipelines, pumps, and valves
  • When:  Ongoing – early 2026*
  • Work Hours:  Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • What to Expect:
    • Occasional reduced travel lanes on westbound Main St.
    • Increase in activity and noise levels

Project Description

This project will rehabilitate two parallel regional sewer pipelines, along a 1-mile stretch on Airway Avenue and Airport Loop Drive in the City of Costa Mesa, near the John Wayne Airport. The rehabilitation of the two pipelines must occur one at a time and will take place in separate phases.

Project elements also include improvements at the Main Street Pump Station.  See map below (blue line).
