Cypress Trunk Sewer
We are ready to start construction on the Cypress Trunk Sewer Project. As early as the week of July 14, preparation work will begin at the intersection of Moody St. and Crescent Ave. bordering the cities of Cypress and La Palma.
Initial activity will take place during daytime hours and include potholing to locate underground utilities. Work will move south along Moody St. towards Orange Ave. in the City of Cypress.
Following site preparation, temporary traffic control will be installed, which will be the start of the next phase of construction. This phase includes excavation, shoring, and trenching for a bypass pump system to reroute sewer flow and maintain service to the community. Once this is all in place, manhole rehabilitation work will follow.
As the project progresses, we will continue to post updates. Sign up for email and text alerts to stay connected and get the latest news on this project.
Project Description:
The regional sewer line in the cities of Cypress, Los Alamitos, and La Palma is approximately 50 years old and in need of upgrades. The Cypress Trunk Sewer Project will focus on enhancing about 7 miles of sewer, replacing portions of the pipe with larger diameter pipe to increase the capacity, or rehabilitating other segments of pipe to extend the life of the sewer system. Approximately 100 manholes will also be replaced and/or rehabilitated. These repairs will extend the life of the sewer pipes by another 50 years.
Schedule:
Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2025 and last approximately 3 years.
