State College Sewer Construction Update – November 12, 2019
Installing a 54-inch diameter sewer pipeline, 20 feet below the ground on a very busy arterial road is no easy task. There are other utilities, space, traffic, and above all, people to consider as you’re attempting to complete the installation. The construction project on State College Blvd. in Anaheim is this exact scenario. A new sewer line needs to be installed along four miles of the road which means there are many simultaneous moving parts. Take a look at our current work efforts along State College.
Platinum Triangle (Artisan to Gateway) –Â NEW WORK HOURS
- Construction work is switching from nights to days. New hours are: Monday – Friday,
7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. - No left hand turns onto Gene Autry. East/west traffic on Gene Autry will not be able to cross State College Blvd. during these hours.
Platinum Triangle (Orangewood) –Â NEW WORK HOURS
- Construction work is switching from nights to days. New hours are: Monday – Friday,
5 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Ongoing – March 2020 - Lane reductions and turn restrictions are necessary. Current work consist of connecting laterals to the new line so service is not interrupted once the new line is put into service. Manholes need to be installed to make the connections which requires excavation. When we excavate, we need to install shoring, which is steel sheeting that reinforces the soil in the excavated area. This activity will cause some minor vibration.
Cerritos Avenue to Ball Road
- Nightwork: Monday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Project Description:
The project is replacing four miles of sewer along State College Boulevard from the SR-91 to Orangewood Avenue in the City of Anaheim. Construction began in late summer 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in 2020. Once the project is complete, eight million gallons of wastewater will be diverted to OCSD’s Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley for treatment before being send to the Groundwater Replenishment System.  This is Phase B of a two-phase project; Phase A was completed in 2017 and took place from Yorba Linda Blvd. to SR-91 in the City of Fullerton.
