State College Sewer Construction Update – Week of July 22, 2019

 construction alert header

The sewer work keeps moving north. Later this month crews will move into the area between La Palma Avenue and the 91 freeway to begin the sewer installation. Take a look at the latest Neighborhood Bulletin and progress map for details.

La Palma Ave to SR-91

As early as July 29, crews will move into this area to begin the sewer installation work. The first activity you’ll notice is restriping of the lanes and installation of k-rail. This will allow for the removal of the center median to be able to excavation the area where the new sewer will be installed. The medians and landscaping will be replaced at the end of the project. Once this section is complete, crews will continue with the area between Underhill Avenue and La Palma. We will be in this area through the end of the year.

Work hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturday work, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ball Road to Vermont Avenue

Sewer installation in this area is almost complete, crews are finalizing the installation before moving north on State College. There will be a need to return to this area to put the new sewer in service once the northern section is completed.

Work hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturday work, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ball Rd. to Orangewood Avenue – Nightwork

The sewer has been successfully installed in this area. However, occasional night work is still required at various intersections between Ball Road and Orangewood Avenue to complete manhole installations and make lateral connections. Activities will occur as Angel games and Honda Center schedules permits.

Work hours are Monday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m., concluding in winter 2020.

We understand construction can be an inconvenience, we apologize in advance and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our infrastructure.

*Dates are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.

**Once the sewer is fully installed, additional work will be required throughout the sewer alignment to put the sewer in service. Notifications will be made about that work once a schedule is available.

Project Description:
The project is replacing four miles of sewer along State College Boulevard from the SR-91 to Orangewood Avenue in the City of Anaheim. Construction began in summer 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.  Once the project is complete, eight million gallons of wastewater will be diverted to OCSD’s Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley for treatment before being send to the Groundwater Replenishment System.  This is Phase B of a two-phase project; Phase A was completed in 2017 and took place from Yorba Linda Blvd. to SR-91 in the City of Fullerton.
