Location: South Coast Drive, San Leandro Lane, Concord Street

The sewer pipeline crossing under the 405 freeway will be rehabilitated using the cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) method, with spot repairs recently completed in April. More information about CIPP is listed at the end. This work is scheduled at night when sewer flows are lower.
- When:Â Tuesday, May 12
- Hours: Nightwork, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. Crews will begin set up work starting as early as 5 p.m. Â
- Impacts: Â
- Increase in activity and noise levels from construction vehicles and equipment.
- Vactor trucks will be used to vacuum wastewater out of the pipeline from a nearby manhole to keep flows out of the section of pipe that will be rehabilitated. This activity can be loud.
- Some odors may be noticeable in the immediate area but are temporary.
*All dates and times are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.
About Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP)
A pre-measured liner is delivered in a refrigerated truck and inserted through a manhole opening into the existing pipeline. After the liner has been inserted, it is filled with water that is heated to a certain temperature and cured for several hours. When fully cured, the liner now acts as the new pipeline. Once the CIPP operation begins, it cannot be stopped until completed, and can often require 24/7 continuous work. Crews will be onsite for monitoring throughout the entire process.
