The MacArthur Sewer Project is moving along with night work on MacArthur Blvd. between Von Karmen Ave. and Birch St. Crews are currently working on completing paving work before they proceed to start grind and cap work. This project is set to be completed in late 2024.*
- Work Happening:Â Completion work required includes finishing piping work at the pump station, connecting the new forcemain, abandoning the old forcemain, trench paving followed by final manhole work, landscaping, and grind and cap paving.
- Where:Â MacArthur Boulevard between Von Karman Avenue and Birch Street
- When: Currently ongoing – End of 2024. Final paving may occur in early 2025.*
- Work Hours: Sunday – Thursday, Nightwork; 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Impacts:
- Reduced travel lanes and turns on MacArthur Boulevard, with at least one lane of travel in each direction.
- No median access.
- Increased noise due to construction activity.
- Roadway will return to normal during non-work hours (daytime).

Project Description
The OC San MacArthur Sewer Improvements Project will construct two new pressurized sewer pipelines, or force mains, along 1/3-mile of right-of-way on MacArthur Blvd. in the City of Newport Beach. Additionally, this Project will abandon about 1/2-mile of pipe that is no longer needed and modify an existing access structure located at the intersection of Birch Street and MacArthur Blvd. Work will also occur at the OC San MacArthur Pump Station. Construction is slated to take approximately one year to complete.
