The Orange Western Trunk Sewer Project will be conducting construction work in the City of Anaheim and Cypress. The work being performed consists of manhole rehabilitation, replacement and pipe replacement. This project is essential to enhance the condition of the regional sewer system.

City of Anaheim

Manhole rehabilitation and pipeline relocation work will be performed that will require concrete barriers to delineate the work along the median and travel lanes. During this time, the median lanes will be restricted and there will be one travel lane in each direction open for thru traffic. Please follow all posted traffic signs and plan your commute accordingly. Alternate routes are suggested.

To complete the work in this area, there will be three phases of work performed. They will happen continuously and are expected to be complete by May 2023. Work progress will be updated on this project webpage.

Placement of traffic control will occur on the week of Feb. 20, 2023 (rescheduled from week of Feb. 13, 2023). Phase 1 of work will begin immediately after.

LOCATION: Western Ave. between Tyler Ave. to Del Monte Dr.

Traffic Control Placement:

  • When: Week of February 20, 2023*
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Phase 1

  • When: Week of February 27 – May 2023*
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m.

  • Parking restrictions

Work will also be happening along Orange Ave. for manhole installation work.

  • Where: Orange Ave. between Danbrook Ave. and Knott Ave.
  • When: Current – Week of Feb. 13
  • Work Hours: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. 
  • Impacts:
    • No parking will be available during the completion of this work

City of Cypress 

Pipeline and manhole repair work will be performed on Orange Ave. between Valley View St. and Holder Street over the next few months.

To ensure the safety of the community and our crew portions of this work require permanent placement of traffic control along the work area. This means the use of concrete barriers to separate the work zone from the travel lanes.

  • Where: Orange Ave. between Valley View St. to Holder St.
  • When: Ongoing – March 2023*
  • Work Hours: Weekdays, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Impacts:
  • Lane reductions and turn restriction.
  • Parking restrictions
  • Crosswalk closures
  • Certain bus stops along the route may be affected, please watch for posted signs and visit www.OCTA.net for details
  • Parking restrictions
    • From Cypress College entrance on Orange Ave. to Valley View St. there will be extended work hours
      • 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Mon. – Fri.
      • Week of Feb. 13
    • Parking will only be available on the northside of Orange Ave. during the extended work hours

Project Description

Manholes and sections of sewer pipeline on Western Avenue and Orange Avenue in the Cities of Buena Park, Anaheim, and Cypress will be rehabilitated to extend their service life. OC San will clean and inject chemical grout into the pipelines and rehabilitate or replace manholes along the highlighted section of the entire project area map. Small segments of pipe will also be replaced.
